European Representation of German Social Insurance

Europe is converging

The European Union is converging dynamically. At the latest since the signing of the Treaties of Amsterdam (1997) and Nice (2001), important core areas of national sovereignty see themselves being subject to at least partial "Europeanisation". Accompanying this transformation actively and attentively is an important challenge for all members of the German parliament and government, as well as others involved in the social insurance system >>

EU Representation

As European integration makes further strides, European social insurance systems are also taking on a wider economic, legal and strategic frame of reference. It is vital that these systems keep a close watch on the processes at work in Brussels in order to play an active role in formulating and achieving common objectives. In Germany, the important tasks of reporting on EU-wide social policies as well as analysing and guiding their development are taken on by the European Representation of the German Social Insurance System and the Federal Employment Agency >>

European Networks

The German Social Insurance System is connected through several transnational networks with many social protection organisations in other EU Member States. These transnational cooperative efforts serve primarily as a forum for shared learning as well as a means for achieving the goal of active participation in the development of European social and health care policy. The major networks of this kind are the European Social Insurance Forums and the association European Social Insurance Platform (ESIP) >>
